

She is predeceased by her parents, Homero Aguirre Carámbula and Berta Perla Romero Laviña and her brother Edgardo Allan Aguirre.
She was originally from Uruguay and lived in Eastern North Carolina since 2001. Serrana was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church in New Bern.
A beloved, cherished wife and mother, Serrana was a teacher. She began her career at the Uruguayan-American School in Montevideo where she taught English as a second language to the children of foreign diplomats. Later, Serrana taught at Gramercy Christian School in Newport for 16 years. She touched the lives of many with her dedication, enthusiasm, and faithful witness. She also loved to cook and will be remembered for her culinary expertise that she loved to share with others. She is survived by her husband, Bertram Bowers; sons, Eric James Bowers and his wife, Jessica Marie Curiel Bowers and Brandon Paul Bowers; sister, Virginia Carola Aguirre; and granddaughter, Eleanor Grace Bowers.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm on Friday, March 31, 2023 at Tabernacle Baptist Church followed by the funeral service at 3:00 pm. The Burial will be at Greenleaf Memorial Park following the service. There will be an open house at the Bowers residence following the burial at 320 Nuechatel Road, New Bern.
