Bertram Stover Hayes Jr

The family will greet friends at Cotten Funeral Home on Friday, July 10, 2015 from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm; no home visits, please. A private burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Fremont, North Carolina.

Bert was born in Wallace, North Carolina on July 23, 1943, to Bertram Stover Hayes, Sr. and Elizabeth Kirk Perry.

Bert is survived by his wife of 48 years, Suzanne Flowers Hayes; two children, Nancy Clark Hayes Butterfield and husband Alan, and Susan Wood Hayes; three granddaughters, Anna Elizabeth Butterfield, Susan Hayes Butterfield, and Sally Stover Butterfield.

In addition, he is survived by his brother, William Bryant Hayes, his sister, Suzanne Perry Hayes, his mother-in-law, Nancy Clark Flowers, and his brother-in-law, William Blount Flowers, Jr. He was predeceased by his parents and his father-in-law, William Blount Flowers, Sr.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the National Kidney Foundation, 4701 Hedgemore Drive, Charlotte, North Carolina 28209 and the National Stroke Association, 9707 E. Easter Lane, Suite B, Centennial, Colorado 80112.
