Bettie Lou Jones

A faithful and active member of Gethsemane Original Free Will Baptist Church for many years, Bettie enjoyed working in her garden and flowerbeds and had a special love for caring for children. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who touched many lives with her kindness and nurturing spirit.

She is survived by her son, George "Eric" Jones and wife Jordan, and her granddaughters, Kennedy and Kamryn, of New Bern, NC; her brother, David Murphy and wife Jennie Lynn of Pensacola, FL; son-in-law Doug Webb; grandson Robbie Webb and wife Jordan; granddaughter Tammy Thompson and husband Brian of Saratoga, NC; and grandson Daniel Heath and five great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband George Jones Jr.; her first husband, David Powell; daughters Linda Webb and Vicki Heath; son-in-law Carlton Heath; her parents, Raymond and Margaret Murphy; and her brothers, Chester Murphy, Mitchell Murphy, and Lawrence Murphy.

A lakeside chapel service for Bettie will be held Tuesday, April 29, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Greenleaf Memorial Park, 900 River Road, New Bern, North Carolina 28562.
