Brenda was born April 29, 1952, to the late Melvin & Nelda Curry. She is preceded in death by her stepmother Pauline Curry and brother David Curry. She is also preceded in death by the love of her life, Gary "Pitstop" Horvath and her son Melvin Horvath.
Brenda was many things to many people, a mom, a sister, an aunt, a friend, a neighbor, a confidant, a helping hand, a prayer warrior, a song writer, a letter giver, and to those she loved the most, a Mamaw. To know Brenda was to know a woman full of laughter and joy with a dose of sass thrown in! In her final days she said she knew the Lord had left her here to make people laugh and smile and that is exactly what she did. Every medical professional that entered her room left with a smile and a knowledge that she knew and loved the Lord. She never liked to see anyone cry. If there was a need, she would do what she could to help provide for others. Brenda loved beyond measure making sure everyone knew to love each other and above all else her desire was for others to love God and to know Him personally.
Left to rejoice in her memories and to keep the legacy of her life, her stories, and her songs alive are Brenda's two loving children, Tanya (Allen) Lardieri and Garry (Kim) Horvath; her grandchildren, Christian Horvath, Steven Horvath, Jared Marcum, Madeline Ladrieri, Abigail Lardieri, Alex Lardieri, Cassidy Clary, Mackenzie Horvath, and Jaxon Horvath; and one precious great-granddaughter, Blake Horvath. In addition to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild, Brenda is survived by her sister Beverly Gilman; sister-in-law's Diana Hill & Janie Horvath; and in-law's Gene & Sharon Horvath. Brenda is also survived by a friend that has been like a sister most of her life Linda "Sue-Bug" McClellan-Cremeans. In addition, Brenda leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends that were like family to her.
Brenda was an avid student of God’s Word, marking the dates in her Bible of each time she successfully read through the entire Bible, starting back in 1981 with the first entry line reading "Finished Complete Bible 12/31/81 Praise God!" The line entry continues down that page in her beloved and worn Bible that is full of family history, scripture insights, and is filled with little notes, cards, and memories. In the Book of Deuteronomy, Chapter 4 we see the dangers of serving other gods, and not being obedient to God, but then the promise of God’s mercy, forgiveness, and grace is found in Brenda's Life Verse ~ Deuteronomy 4:29 “But if from thence thou shalt seek the Lord thy God, thou shalt find him, if thou seek him with all thy heart and with all thy soul.” If you are not in sweet fellowship with the Lord, Brenda would tell you in her own way that He loves you and that it is not too late to turn from your ways, repent, and give it all over to the Lord. Love one another and love God more.
The family will receive visitors and honoring Brenda's life from 1:00-3:00 pm on Saturday, November 4, 2023, at Church of the Lord of Hosts, located at 85 Mathis Addition Road, Mt. Gay, WV 25637. In lieu of flowers, donations to help cover medical bills and expenses are appreciated.
