Carol was born in Rockford, Illinois on August 28, 1939 to Chloren and Lillian Williams.
Carol was married at age 20, in 1959, to Robert L. Magee; with whom she had four children. Later in life, Carol was married to Leonard John Wallis of Rockford, Illinois who passed away in 1995.
Carol’s favorite memories involved playing with her brother Kenneth and many cousins during her childhood; as well as going to the movies with her father; who was a special presence in her life. Carol graduated from Rockford West High School in 1959 and kept all of her old yearbooks; relating stories of her teenage years to family while flipping through the pages. She loved to take pictures, maintaining a large collection of family pictures dating back generations and photos of her travel adventures around the country throughout her life. Her love of pictures was only exceeded by her love of cats. In her later years, she found special companionship in an orange tabby named Simba; who would lounge beside her on the couch and chatter while she was reading her Clive Cussler novels; another of her favorite pastimes. Carol had a sharp intellect and a quick wit; often leaving those she interacted with chuckling and shaking their heads. In 2016, Carol left her home in Nashville, Michigan to live closer to her eldest son in North Carolina. She most recently resided in an independent living apartment at the Courtyards at Berne Village in New Bern, NC.
Carol was predeceased by her parents, Chloren and Lillian Williams, brother Kenneth Williams, her husband Leonard John Wallis, and long-time companion Stephen Toman.
Carol is survived by her children, Wendy Fox (Don), Robert C. Magee (Beth), Bryan Magee (Alicia), and Shane Magee; eight grandchildren; Jason Magee, Jacob Bienemann, Jennifer Rogers, Amy Nikirk, Cory Fox, Thomas Magee, Jessica Magee, and Joshua Magee; and ten great-grandchildren. Carol is also survived by cousin Donna Price; with whom she had a special friendship spanning her full 81 years and her “step-son” George Toman, for whom she cared deeply.
A special thank you to the staff of Courtyards at the Berne Village for your compassion and care during Carol’s time in both the independent and assisted living facilities.
At Carol’s request, no formal services will be held. Anyone wishing to honor Carol’s memory may make a donation to their local animal or wildlife rescue.

“Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life.”
