Carroll proudly served his country by joining the Navy in December of 1952. He married the love of his life, Louise Tyson, on March 17, 1956. Together they created a beautiful family. Carroll spent his career painting, and greatly enjoyed it. When Carroll wasn't working, he enjoyed fishing, watching the Atlanta Braves play baseball, and spending time with his family. One of Carroll's favorite pleasures was when it snowed. He would smile really big when he woke up and saw the ground covered in the beautiful, white snow. Carroll never met a stranger, and all who knew him will greatly miss him, including his family.
Carroll is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Louise Owens; children, Michael Owens, Carolyn Cade (Sonny), Donna Jenkins (Johnnie), and Lisa Cowan (Tommy); grandchildren, Ashley Wiggins, Bradley Jenkins, Gregory Owens, Jr., Jennifer Sikes, Melissa McLamb, Tommy Dunn IV, Heather Conrad, Krystal Vankemseke, Miranda Ipock, Reuben Cade III, and Haley Caroon; 21 great-grandchildren; brother, James Owens; daughter-in-law, Johnnie Owens; and many loving family members and close friends.
He is preceded in death by his son, Gregory Carroll Owens, Sr., and several brothers and sisters.
A Celebration of Carroll's Life will be held on Friday, April 21, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Cotten Funeral Home. The family will receive visitors following the service. Rev. Rex Bennett will be officiating the service.
