He was a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church, the Gideons and the Loyal Order of Moose Legion No. 69.
Charles is preceded in death by his wife Rita Jean Boyette DuVal and a son, Charles L. DuVal. He is survived by his long-time companion, Viola Hamman, two sons Roger Dean DuVal (Laurie) of Garner, Ronald Steven DuVal (Monica) of Fuquay-Varina, two daughters, Dawn D. Penley (Carl) of Hendersonville, Terri Love (Frank) of Elk Grove, CA, one daughter in-law Alisa DuVal of Grantsboro, one sister, Carol Pugh (John) of New Bern, seven grandchildren, Brian, Valerie, Crystal, Mandy, Andrew, Corey and Morgan, and eight great-grandchildren.
His service will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, December 10, 2016 at Cotten Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery.
