He was a loving husband and father. He was an avid fisherman and golfer. He was a member of the Shriners, Masonic Scottish Rite and the Doric Lodge.
Charles is survived by his wife, Jane Rhodes Manning; two daughters, Kimberly Manning Mills and husband, Grant of Chapel Hill and Carla Manning McIntyre of Charleston, SC; two sisters, Francis Ormond and Judy Herring and husband, T. J., all of New Bern; one granddaughter, Annabel Jane McIntyre and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 31, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Lakeside Chapel at Greenleaf Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Friday, December 30, 2011 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Cotten Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charitable organization of your choice.
