Christopher “Chris” Harry Venters III, 75, of Spruce Pine, N.C., passed away peacefully on April 13, 2026. Chris left this world the same way he lived it - with kindness, optimism, strength, and surrounded by the love of his family.
Chris was born on March 10, 1951, in Raleigh, N.C. to Christopher Harry Venters Jr. and Lois Crump Venters. He grew up in Edenton, N.C. and, after serving in the U.S. Army, attended and graduated from East Carolina University.
Chris found joy on the water in his boat and in the mountains, and took pride in building, renovating, and decorating homes. Above all, he treasured the simple moments spent talking with his family.
Chris is survived by his partner, Josephine Peterson; his daughter, Lisa Martin, and her husband, Patrick Martin; his sons, Christopher Venters and his wife, Townley Venters, and Kyle Venters; his brother, Kim Venters, and his sister, Lee Jennings, and their families; as well as two beloved grandchildren, Wells and Emerson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Lois.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests for donations to be made to State Employees Credit Union Hospice House of UNC Health Johnston.
