Clifton was a man of strong work ethic and dedication throughout his life. He was the owner of C&A Heating and Air Conditioning, where he took great pride in serving his community. He also worked for First Citizens Bank and honorably served his country as a member of the National Guard.
Outside of work, Clifton enjoyed life’s simple pleasures. He loved spending time on the golf course, playing cards with friends and family, and was a devoted Duke University fan. His warm personality and competitive spirit brought joy to those who knew him.
He is survived by his significant other, Carol Dunmire; his daughter, Dana Kim Nelson; his sister, Carol Gentry; and his cherished grandchildren, Lindsey Rivenbark, William Rivenbark, and Scott Rivenbark; great grandson, Oliver Goodman.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at Cotten Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Colonial Capital Humane Society.
Cotten Funeral Home & Crematory is honored to serve the Gentry family.
