Columbus Staten Harrell Jr.

Columbus Staten Harrell, Jr., 99, of New Bern, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 22nd, 2018. He was a loving and devoted husband and father, hard worker and good provider for his family. He was a custom cabinet maker by trade and worked well into his eighties before retiring.

He is survived by five children, Kim Cleary (Thomas), Barbara Barrows, Johnny Ray Harrell, Sr., Donald Rufus Harrell (Yvonne), and Bobby Harrell; one sister, Erma Leidenfrost; fourteen grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren; and eight great great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ellen Harrell; and three sons, Columbus Staten Harrell, III, Robert Lee Harrell, and Jimmy Lee Harrell.

Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Monday, November 26th at Greenleaf Memorial Park Lakeside Chapel with the Rev. Kenneth Dixon officiating.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude for the loving care and compassionate help provided by Operation Blessing, Samaritan's Purse during the recovery following Hurricane Florence; as well as to the nurses and staff on the fourth floor of CarolinaEast Medical Center for their love, support, and compassion given during his care.
