

Whit is preceded in death by his sister Patricia Barnett.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Carolyn Haner, daughter, Amanda Warren (Waylon) of Washington, NC, brother, Joseph Haner (Ellen) of Salisbury, NC, granddaughter, Caroline Higgins (Zack) of Durham, and grandson, Riley Warren of Washington, NC.
Whit proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He retired after 30 years of service as a millwright for PCS Phosphate. After retirement, he pursued his hobbies including, line dancing, and painting. Whit belonged to the Bern Masonic Lodge, was a Shriner, and later became an active member of the Knights of Columbus. He was also a very active parishioner at St. Paul Catholic Church.
Whit was an active member of the community, with an outgoing personality, he never met a stranger. He had a large group of very close friends. Whit touched so many lives and his loss will be felt by many.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 11, 2021 at Cotten Funeral Home from 6:00pm-8:00pm. A graveside memorial service will be held at Greenleaf Memorial park on Friday, March 12, 2021 at 11:00am.
