

He graduated from SUNY Geneseo in 1967 with a degree in education and was a member of the Delta Kappa Tau fraternity. His greatest joy was being in the classroom with the children. He spent most of his career making an impact on the minds of 6th grade students in Math and Science. Mike worked at HJ McDonald Middle School and then The Epiphany School of Global Studies. He was the founder of youth lacrosse in New Bern. In 2016 he was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease and he became one of the first boxers in the Rock Steady Boxing Program. Mike was a die hard Buffalo Bills fan since 1959.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 43 years Susan Milliron, son David "Dave" Milliron, Jr., two grandchildren, Micah and Addison, extended family, Andrea Matthews and her two children Garrett and Graham, Tiffany Milliron, sister Carol Milliron, brother Kipp Milliron and wife Heather, fur baby Stella Marie and dearest friends Dennis Carini, Frank "Matey" Haveron and Phil Thrall.
The family wishes to thank Mike's medical team of Dr. Mark Moeller, Dr. Bob Whitmore, Dr. Graham Underhill at CarolinaEast Internal Medicine, CarolinaEast Medical Center, Dr. Temitope Lawal of ECU Health and most especially his cardiac team at The Heart Center - Dr. Matt Levine and Dusty Scott, PA. Special thanks to Phillip Laxton of the Community Paramedic Program and Dr. Fisher, Jody, Ashley, and Jennifer of Craven County Hospice for helping make his final transition easier.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Sunday, June 11, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Cotten Funeral Home. Refreshments will be served following the service. At Mike's request, please wear casual attire and Buffalo Bills attire is encouraged.
