Diane Marie Flory (Vidumansky) passed away peacefully Thursday afternoon, January 8th 2026, at Greenville Health and Rehabilitation Center in Greenville, NC after a year-long battle with cancer. Diane was the 2nd child of Edward J. and Mary Gladys Vidumansky, born in Salem, Ohio on January 13th, 1945.
She graduated from Leetonia High School and accrued many certifications throughout her life for the betterment of job skills and interests. Diane resided in Ohio for the first 33 years of her life and dearly loved her home state where much of her family still lives. On March 14th, 1970 Diane married Ron Flory in Winchester, VA and later started a family, eventually having 2 children. In 1978, the family moved to North Carolina looking for better job opportunities and thus found a permanent-settling place. Having lived in Gastonia, Burlington, and eventually New Bern, Diane came to fondly regard North Carolina as home as much as her dear Ohio.
Retired from CCHC Atlantic Primary Care and its incarnations in New Bern since 2021, Diane spent 30 years serving the needs of patients on the administrative and reception side of medical practices in multiple capacities. Lifelong friendships were molded and bound as Diane had a loving rapport and formed genuine bonds with co-workers and patients alike. A fiercely-kind soul who made and had many friends, Diane was the epitome of a “sweet” person. Everyone who had the fortune to know her loved her!
A devout Catholic, Diane was an active member in St. Paul Catholic church in New Bern NC. Catholicism was a central pillar of Diane’s life, and she upheld her faith with dignity and reverence.
With the birth of her first grandchild in 1998 (and the 2 others who followed), Diane “doted on” and became a strong, loving influence in their formative lives in which she took a very active role right up to the end of her life. A voracious reader of many topics; lover of the classic rock and roll music of her time (Eagles were her favorite); and an avid television-watcher (loved British TV), Diane was at once savvy and knowledgeable on topics past and present.
Diane is preceded in death by her parents Edward J. and Mary Gladys Vidumansky, and her eldest Brother “Eddie” Vidumanksy.
Loving survivors include Diane’s son, Ron Flory II and wife Erica and children: Alexandria Klimala and husband Brian of Louisburg, NC; Rhianna Flory of Raleigh, NC; and Gavin Flory of Winston-Salem, NC; Son Chad Flory and girlfriend Cindy Kupec of New Bern, NC; Beloved brother Dennis Vidumansky of Leetonia, Ohio; Beloved sister Deb Vidumansky of Leetonia, Ohio; Niece Melissa Blackmore of Plano, Texas; Niece Arlene Spahn and husband Chris of Akron, Ohio; Cousin Valerie Mitcheson and husband Dave of Louisburg, NC and family; “Pennsylvania” cousins Neil, Larry, Pat, Kathy, Mark (dec'd) and Maureen (dec’d) and their many wonderful children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; Amicable former-spouse Ron Flory Sr. of Wilson, NC. The family requests those who wish to express sympathy in lieu of flowers to please consider donating to The Lisa Dale Foundation, and/or St. Paul Catholic Church of New Bern in memory of Diane.
A memorial service will be held at St. Paul Catholic Church in New Bern, NC, Friday, February 6th, 2026 at 11:00 AM. A second service will be held in Leetonia Ohio, TBD, 2026, with interment following at Mount Calvary Cemetery.
Cotten Funeral Home & Crematory is honored to serve the family and friends of Diane Marie Flory.
