Donald Robert Penrod

Donald Robert Penrod, Sr., 82, of New Bern, NC, passed away Sunday, October 19, 2014.

He was retired as a Gunnery Sergeant for the USMC and the N.J. Turnpike. He was a member of the River Bend Golf and Country Club and an avid golfer.

He is predeceased by his daughter Teresa Hughes.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Doris A. Penrod; son Don Penrod, Jr. and wife Sue of North Pole, Alaska; daughter Catherine P. Scutti and husband Frank of Lindenwold, New Jersey; four grandchildren Scott Hughes, Michelle Penrod, Joshua Penrod and Rachel Scutti and two great-grandchildren.

The funeral mass will be held Thursday, October 23, 2014 at 12:00 noon at St. Paul Catholic Church. Internment will be Friday, October 24 at 2 pm at Coastal Carolina Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, October 22 from 6-8 pm at Cotten Funeral Home.
