Doris Elaine Chance Dye

Doris Chance Dye, 74, of Dallas, Texas, peacefully passed on the morning of Thursday, July 28, 2016. She was born in Morehead City, NC on September 11, 1941 to her parents, Joseph P. Chance, Sr. and Virginia G. Chance. She grew up in the Neuse Forest area and graduated from New Bern Sr. High School in 1959. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Duncanville, Texas.

She is survived by her mother, Virginia G. Chance of New Bern; three sons, Linwood O. Taylor, Jr. and wife Kim of New Bern, Raymond J. Taylor of Jacksonville, Fla., and J. Burke Taylor and wife, Mellissa of New Bern; one sister, Rosa Chance Johnson of New Bern; one brother, Joseph P. Chance, Jr. and wife Judith of New Bern; four grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Celebration of Life service will be 3 p.m. Sunday, July 31, 2016 at Village Chapel Presbyterian Church, 908 Madame Moore's Lane, New Bern with the Reverend R. Norman Evans officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Craven County Hospice, P.O. Drawer 12610, New Bern, NC 28561 or to the First Christian Church of Duncanville, 203 S. Main St., Duncanville, Texas 75116.
