Doris “Nana” Taylor Williams, 86, of Littleton, passed away on Saturday, December 2, 2017. The daughter of the late Isaac and Minnie Ingram, Doris was born and raised in Northampton County, later enjoying retirement at her beloved Lake Gaston, and in the last few months with family in New Bern. A lifetime member of Shiloh United Methodist Church in Gaston, Doris took great joy serving as the church organist and pianist, a role that she first began at age 11. She enjoyed a long and successful career with Planters Bank in Roanoke Rapids, first as a secretary and later as a loan officer. She will forever be remembered for her love of dogs, bridge, politics, cooking, and Christmas. The Lord picked the perfect season to call her home and we imagine Nana decorating every tree in heaven, with each light perfectly in place.
Preceding her in death are her parents; and her husbands, L.H. Taylor, Jr. and C.D. Williams, Jr.
She is survived by two sons, Larry Taylor (Cindy) of New Bern and Steve Taylor of Denver, NC; three grandchildren, Jill Taylor Best (Jeb), Lauren Taylor, and Christy Taylor Rogers (Drex); as well as five great grandchildren, Payton, Ashton, Nathan, Taylor, and Merritt.
Graveside funeral service will be 12 p.m. Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at Cedarwood Cemetery in Roanoke Rapids. The family will receive friends following the service at Shiloh United Methodist Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Shiloh United Methodist Church, 421 Lawrenceville Rd, Gaston, NC 27832.
Arrangements are by Cotten Funeral Home & Crematory.
