Effie Reen Edenbeck Matthis, 76, passed away on Wednesday, October 18, 2017 in New Bern, NC. Effie worked for many years at the telephone company in New Bern before becoming a government employee at Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, where she worked until retirement in 2010. Effie’s greatest love was her ability to help or give someone something.
Effie is survived by her two sons, William and Jesse Edenbeck.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, October 21, 2017 at Cotten Funeral Home Chapel, 2201 Neuse Blvd., New Bern, NC 28560. The family will take visitation one hour prior, starting at 10:00. Burial will follow at New Bern Memorial Cemetery.
