
Reared in Sampson County she received degrees in Home Economics and Middle School Education from East Carolina University.
She worked as a County Home Demonstration Agent for several years and also retired from teaching in Craven County with over 30 years of service.
She was a lifetime member of New Bern Golf and Country Club, an active member of the New Bern Women's Club as well as the Trent Woods Garden Club. She also enjoyed her weekly and monthly bridge clubs and "The Monday Group".
She was preceded in death by her husband James Richard Rankin Sr., grandson Jeremiah Justin Hatley, parents Thomas and Lelon Warren, sister Martha Warren Page and brother Thomas Elliott Warren.
She leaves behind her daughter Susan Rankin Daniels and husband Steve, son James Richard Rankin Jr., daughter Martha Rankin Morris; four granddaughters Megan Moffitt Askew and husband Dale, Lindsey Daniels Ennis and husband Matt, Stacy Ryan Rankin, and Ashley Marie Morris; three great-grandchildren Emily Rose Hatley, Lauren Marie Ennis, and Jace Bartley Askew and brother William Irvin Warren and wife Michelle as well as four dedicated caretakers Dorothy, Betty, Hope and Cecillia.
Having touched so many lives of her family, extended family, friends and students "Teene" will be sorely missed.
Funeral services will be held at First Presbyterian Church on Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at 1:00 pm with a graveside services at Greenleaf Memorial Park. Family will receive friends after the service at her home.
Arrangements are by Cotten Funeral Home and Crematory.
