

George Eason Wethington, Sr., a dedicated individual from New Bern, sadly left us on Sunday, April 7, 2024, following a devastating incident at his workplace. Born on September 17, 1959, in the charming city of New Bern, North Carolina, George's presence will be deeply missed.
Fondly remembered by loved ones and friends, George was known for his unwavering work ethic. For an impressive span of 44 years, he diligently provided for his family. George dedicated 32 years of his life to Eastern Building Components, leaving behind a lasting legacy of innovation and efficiency that continues in the industry even today. Additionally, he served as an esteemed employee at Mountain Air Cargo for 12 years, showcasing his commitment to his craft.
George's unwavering dedication to his work and his loved ones will forever be cherished. May he rest in peace, leaving behind a legacy of hard work and devotion.
George is survived by his adoring wife of 44 years, Tina Wethington, who stood by his side through thick and thin. In addition to his wife, George leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion through his children: George Wethington Jr. and his wife, Anna Wethington; Tyler Wethington and his wife, Brittany Globeck; and Samantha Houston and her husband, Tony Houston. George took immense pride in his role as a father, providing guidance, love, and support to his children.
George was a proud grandfather to Olivia Wethington, Lucas Houston, Quentin Houston, and Harlan Houston; and step-grandchildren, Esahbella Innerarity and Ansley Innerarity. He showered his grandchildren with affection and played an active role in their lives, creating lasting memories and leaving an indelible impact on their hearts.
George was the son of Terry and Margaret Wethington; and the brother of Terry Alan Wethington and his wife, Julia Wethington, and Charles Wethington; and many loving family members and friends. His extended family members and countless friends, touched by his kind and hardworking nature, also mourn his loss.
George is preceded in death by grandparents George and Edna Cook, and sister-in-law, Susan Wethington. Their memories will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved George dearly.
The family will receive visitors from 1:00-2:00 pm on Friday, April 12, 2024, at Clark's United Methodist Church. A celebration of George's life will begin at 2:00 pm. Following the service, George will be laid to rest at Greenleaf Memorial Park, a peaceful final resting place for a man who brought so much joy to the lives of those around him.
