Harriett Jarvis Collins

Harriett Jarvis Collins of New Bern, NC went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, October 22, 2016. She was preceded in death by her parents, James Lewis Jarvis and Mary Etta Jarvis, as well as her sister, Dorothy Myree Hardison.

She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Alvis W. Collins, Sr. She is Also survived by her brother James E. Jarvis (Linda) of New Bern and her sister, Sandra J. Graham (David) of Rossville, Ga., as well as her two sons Alvis Wayne Collins, Jr. (Pam) of New Bern, and Gregory D. Collins (Sandra) of New Bern, NC. Five Grandchildren, Shawn Alfred-Urban (Clayton, NC), Kenny Collins (Shelby, NC), Dylan Collins (New Bern, NC), Carolyn Collins (New Bern, NC), Cody Meadows (Maysville, NC) as well as many nieces and nephews.

Harriett was a graduate of the New Bern High School Class of 1967. She went on to graduate from the Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in 2007 majoring in Women’s Ministry Studies. She worked for many years in bookkeeping and had retired as an Administrative Assistant to the pastor from Neuse River Baptist Church. Harriett’s smile could be seen many days running register at Ghent Sandwich Shop.

In addition to the love of her life, Alvis, she shared her home with her two fur babies, Cosmo and Jasmine.

Services will be held Thursday, October 27, 2016 at 11am at Cotten Funeral Home.

The family will receive visitors and friends on Wednesday, October 26, 2016 from 6-8pm at Cotten Funeral Home, as well as other times at the home of Wayne and Pam Collins.

Burial will be held at Greenleaf Memorial Park.
