Born and raised in North Carolina, Hazel graduated from Farm Life High School in 1948. She was a devoted member of Antioch Free Will Baptist Church and a courageous cancer survivor whose strength and grace inspired those who knew her.
Hazel was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Kenneth “Red” Jones; and stepsons, Raymond Jones and Kenneth “Billy” Jones.
She is survived by her stepson, Carrol Jones; stepdaughter, Sharon Strassheim and husband Thomas; and her loving niece, Melanie Toler-Rodriguz and husband Rod. Hazel cherished her family and touched many lives with her kind and gentle spirit.
A funeral service to celebrate her life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at Cotten Funeral Home. She will be laid to rest at Greenleaf Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
