He was born on April 2, 1934 to Clarence Jefferson Davis and Alma Mae Wilson Davis. He was a farmer and owned and operated a family grocery store and garage in Perfection. He also volunteered with New Bern Craven County Rescue Squad (Rescue 30) for 20 years.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 41 years Letha Mae Heath Davis who passed away on January 19, 1996; his parents; his brothers; Raymond, Jason, A P, and Jamie Davis; his sister; Neppie Mae Jones and his daughter-in-law Carol Holzworth Davis.
He is survived by his children; Gary Davis (Melanie), Mike Davis (Joan Webber), Pam Davis Thomas (Mike) and Carla Davis Ipock (Robert); his grandchildren; Teri Davis Gaskins (Johnathon), Gina Davis Armstrong (Nick), Jonathan Davis (Kristy), Alicia Davis (Marcus Wassmer), Bryan Wetherington (Deseree) and Brooke Giblin Pruitt (Steve); his great grandchildren; Ethan Gaskins, Ellie Rae and Alex Davis, and Trey, Mikailah and Ryder Wetherington; his sisters; Nyoka Grimes (John) and Betty Rouse; his brother-in-law; Donald Heath (Vicki); his sisters-in-law; Alice Bullard, Hallie Mae Heath, Eloise Davis and Grace Davis and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Celebration of Life will be on Sunday, August 8, 2021 at Bethany Christian Church in Jasper during the 9:30 am morning worship service. Visitation and lunch following service.
The family would like to thank Dr. Shields (NBIM), Dr. Casciello (Heart and Vascular) and all the other doctors, nurses and staff who took care of our father through the years. We would also like to thank CarolinaEast Medical Center's "Comfort Care" unit for all they did to make our father as comfortable as possible in his last days of life.
