He graduated with the New Bern High School Class of 1960. He served 4 years in the United States Air Force and retired from NADEP Cherry Point. Since retirement, he had been a volunteer at Croatan National Forest, was active in the Take-a-Kid Fishing program, loved star gazing and was a member of the Singles Club.
He is preceded in death by his sister Vivian Saulter.
He is survived by his daughter Nancy Lynn Connor and husband, Tim, of Everette, Washington; his son, Andy Bennett; one grandson Cody Connor; and an uncle John Scurlock of New Bern, NC.
Family will receive friends Friday, October 24 from 6-8 pm at Cotten Funeral Home. There will be a scattering service in the Perry Town Landing, Croatan National Forest on Saturday, October 25 at 11 am.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Take A Kid Fishing Program, U.S. Forest Service, Croatan National Forest, 141 East Fisher Avenue, New Bern, NC 28560.
