

HAVELOCK — James “Jim” H. Beasley, 71, a long time resident of Havelock, went to his eternal home on Nov. 4, 2017. He was born Sept. 13, 1946 to James R. Beasley and Charlotte Nicholson. Jim was a master carpenter, a Marine, and a licensed optician in the Havelock/Cherry Point area for 46 plus years.
Jim is survived by his loving wife Susie Butler Beasley of 50 years; son Jimbo Beasley and his wife Sherry of Commerce TWP., MI; daughter Mary Beth Beasley of Havelock, NC; 2 babydolls (granddaughters) Sarah and Allison Beasley; brothers Ronnie Beasley of Natchez, MS and Troy, Claude and Tony Nicholson of Fort Worth, TX; sister “Sissy” Koonce of Alexandria, LA; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends he and Susie have mentored and loved throughout the years.
Jim is proceeded in death by his step mother Juanita Beasley, brothers Byford Beasley, Elvis Nicholson and sister Sharon Blake.
Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for a graveside service Friday at 2:00 at Forest Oaks Memorial Gardens, 908 Lake Road in Havelock.
Flowers are welcome or a memorial donation to the family that will be used to plant Jim's favorite tree, the Bald Cypress on the family property along the Slocum Creek to help preserve his work and add to the area's natural beauty. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Cotten Funeral Home and Crematory.
