He was retired from the U. S. Air Force and NADEP.
James is survived by his daughter, Alison Johnson of New Bern; sons, Aaron Sutton and William Jason Shilling both of New Bern; sister, Zernie Alice Sutton of Newport; mother, Etta Katie Sutton and two grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Saturday, January 26, 2013 at Cotten Funeral Home from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Private services will be held at a later date.
