On the beautiful spring morning of March 31st, our beloved mother took her last breath in her earthly body and went to her heavenly home. Jane Piner McLawhorn was born to Walter and Inez Gray Piner on October 17, 1938 in Craven County North Carolina. She graduated from NBHS and was employed by a local grocer and married the love of her life, Bobbie McLawhorn whom she was with for 53 years. She is now rejoicing in heaven with those who predeceased her including her husband Bobbie, her grandson Jaxson, her parents Walter and Inez, and so many more.
She was blessed with two sons. The eldest was Aaron and his wife Carla McLawhorn of New Bern. They have three children: Justin and his wife Amber McLawhorn, Zachary and Philip McLawhorn of New Bern. Justin and Amber have three children: Layn, Jaxson, and Allee. Philip has two children: Landon and Sophia.
Her youngest son was Glenn and his wife Carol Ann McLawhorn of New Bern. They have five children: Geoff McLawhorn, Bobby McLawhorn, Anthony McLawhorn, Brittany McLawhorn, and Harrison McLawhorn. Geoff has three children: Braxton, and twins Hailey and Emma.
She also leaves behind her sisters Beulah Daughety of Dover and Carolyn Bennett of Reelsboro as well as her brother Harry Piner of New Bern and many nieces and nephews. Her eldest brother Leonard Piner predeceased her.
Grammy Jane and her late husband Bobbie were avid travelers. They were fortunate to travel the world and the stories that she shared were magical. She really enjoyed her slot machines and the casinos. She loved to fish and spend many weekends at her “camp”. The last five years she has spent traveling to the western part of the state to the “cabin” where she would delight sitting on the back porch rocking in the rocking chair and playing cards listening to the rain on the tin roof. She also enjoyed time with her family gathering around the table for a meal, visiting, and friendly game of cards. She spent countless hours with her grandkids and great great grandkids. She truly loved her “pride” of cats. She will be missed by all those who knew and loved her. Thank you to everyone who loved her.
The family will receive friends on Friday, April 4, 2025, from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm at Cotten Funeral Home, 2201 Neuse Blvd, New Bern, North Carolina 28560. A funeral service will follow in the chapel with Rev. Connie Stutts and eldest grandson Geoff McLawhorn officiating and her nephew Curtis Piner will be the soloist. She will be laid to rest with her husband following the service at Greenleaf Memorial Park, 900 River Road, New Bern, North Carolina 28562.
