

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Elma Baker of Pamlico County.
Mr. Baker served honorably in the National Guard and was retired from Maola Milk & Ice Cream Company, where he worked as an engineer for 58 years. He was a member of Broad Street Christian Church, a gifted ballroom dance instructor and loved classic cars.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday, May 20, 2016 at the Lakeside Chapel of Greenleaf Memorial Park with the Dr. Reverend Laura Johnson officiating and music provided by the Reverend Angel Lorton. Military honors will be rendered by the U.S. Army National Guard.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Nita Everington Baker; son, Johnny McClean Baker (Lori); daughter, Patricia Diane Priddy (Ronnie); brothers, Harry Baker (Melba) and Vernon Baker; sister, Ernie Pope of Illinois; three granddaughters, April Langston and Ashley Martinez (Fernando) of Orlando, Fla. and Taylor Baker of Reelsboro; six great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
