Our beloved John Frederick Jenso has gone on to his final resting place on June 28, 2023. Born July 27, 1931 in Brooklyn NY. He lived a full 91 years providing love and wonderful memories for his family and all who knew him.
John was a proud member of the United States Navy, where he served in the Korean War from 1951-1954 as an I.C Electrician on the U.S.S Skagit AKA 105.
Upon exiting the Navy, he spent the following 65 years married to his beloved Mildred who passed away in 2020, just shy of their 66th Wedding Anniversary. They started their family in South Brunswick NJ having 3 children- John Frederick Jenso Jr. (Deceased) Lori Paone (65) and Bonnie Zimmermann (63). He got to watch his family grow from there to having 6 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
In 1995 John decided to relocate and live out his retired days in New Bern, NC with his wife. Here he would build friendships and bonds with new neighbors that would soon consider him and his family part of their extended family. John would spend his free time sailing on his boat aptly named “Friendship.” His love of the water never left him as he has many adventures sailing in NJ to Rhode Island to New York to Virginia, down here to North Carolina.
He serviced the community the next 25 years as a volunteer for Meal on Wheels. He was also a former Commander, then active member of the American Legion Unit 24 here in New Bern.
Heaven has a gained an amazing soul and he will be missed deeply by all who knew him.
A memorial service for John will be held Wednesday, July 5, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Pollocksville Baptist Church.
