Everyone called him Kenny. He was born in Vanceboro, NC, then moved to New Bern. He liked to hunt and did so every year through various hunting clubs. He liked guns and had a vast knowledge of the subject. In his younger years, he played softball, and golf, and coached his daughter's softball teams. He liked to tinker out in his workshop and could fix just about anything. He would give you the shirt off his back and help anyone at any time. It didn't matter who or what you needed. He was a kind gentleman and an excellent provider. He had a fierce love for his family and friends.
Kenny started out working various jobs as a teenager to support his young family including the A&P store, Darnells Gas Station, and the Colonial store all in New Bern. He then was hired to be a conductor with A&E Railroad and moved up to be an Engineer with Norfolk Southern Railroad. He retired after 33 years of service.
He spent his retirement taking care of his family and spending time with his beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be truly missed.
He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Patricia Suggs; daughters, Terry McDaniel (significant other, William Register) and Patricia Locke (Denver Locke); grandchildren, Emily McDaniel (boyfriend, Matt Sanders), Kenneth McDaniel, and Landon Locke; great-grandchildren, Braylen Sanders, Kainan McDaniel, and Titus McDaniel; sister, Sarah Jones; brother-in-law, Thomas Price; sister-in-law, Altagracia Suggs; and many loving family members and close friends.
Kenneth is preceded in death by his brothers and sisters.
A Celebration of Kenneth's Life will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, April 14, 2023, at the Lakeside Chapel at Greenleaf Memorial Park. Following the service, Kenneth will be laid to rest.
