Lawrence Higgins

Larry was a faithful, loving husband and doting father. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Rhonda Anthony Higgins and his daughter, the apple of his eye, Dr. Taylor J. Higgins Barker and her husband Dr. Joshua Barker of Cheyenne, Wyoming, his sister-in-law Sandra Gaskins, and his step-sister Dale Harrison. Pre-deceased by his mother Eleanor Grace Taylor Griffin and his father Justin C. Higgins. Larry was an ordained minister in the United Methodist Church. He loved being in the ministry: visiting with his congregation and preaching the word. He served churches in the following districts: Elizabeth City, Burlington, Fayetteville, Rockingham, and Sanford. After going on leave he enjoyed working with the Refugee Ministry at our church. Larry was a member of the Order of the Demolay, a Mason, and a past Master of the Harrellsville Lodge. He was a member and past president of the Rotary Club in Hamlet. Visitation Friday, March 4, from 5-6pm with memorial service to follow at 6pm at Rhems UMC, 5880 Hwy 17 South, New Bern, NC (next to Rhems Fire Department).
