Louise Killingsworth Mills

In 1993, after 36 years of service, she retired as the Director of the Department of Social Services in Jones County. She served on numerous state committees and was awarded for her outstanding service as a District Representative of Social Services in North Carolina. She was a member of Trenton Baptist Church. She loved cooking, reading and sewing. Her strongest loyalties were to her family, friends and especially her grandchildren. She will always be remembered as a loving, caring and generous person. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifton “Sug” Mills, Sr., her parents, William and Lydia Killingsworth, her sister, Cynthia Killingsworth and her brother, Emmitt “Buck” Killingsworth.

Survivors include her son, Clifton Mills, Jr. and wife Angela of Trenton; her sister, Julia Bender of Pollocksville; her brother, James “Pete” Killingsworth and wife Rennie of New Bern; her grandchildren, Lindsay M. Batchelor and husband Phillip, Brandon Mills and wife Carrie, Ashley Mills and wife Katie, and four great-grandchildren, Cody, Ashton, Peyton and Parker.

Services will be held Sunday, September 2, 2012 at Cotten Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mike Oliver officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 prior to the service. Burial will be held at 11:00 am Monday, September 3, 2012 in the Trenton Cemetery.
