

Lynda Tucker Hughes, 67, of New Bern, passed away unexpectedly on the evening of Monday, August 22, 2016. She was born in Winston-Salem and grew up in Glenburnie, Md. where she later graduated from high school. After her family relocated to Wilson, NC, Lynda attended Atlantic Christian College and earned a B.S. degree in Accounting with honors, Cum Laude. She worked for the Federal Government for 32 years, retiring as an Internal Revenue Service Agent. After her retirement, she and her husband moved to New Bern and enjoyed traveling and spending time with their granddaughters.
Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, August 27th at Cotten Funeral Home. She will be laid to rest at a later date at Raleigh Memorial Park.
Lynda is survived by her husband of 44 years, Don Hughes; her children, Robin H. Moran (Bob) and Eddie Hughes (Jill); her granddaughters, Holly and Cara Hughes; her sisters, Susan Tucker Thorne (George) and Nancy Tucker Brown; and a niece and three nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Annabelle Tucker, a sister, Patty Tucker, and two daughters, Mary Catherine and Kathryn Marie.
