Along with her parents, Marjorie is predeceased by her sisters, Patricia Forsythe of Pittsburgh, PA, and Joyce Leacock of Sarasota, FL. Marjorie married David F. X. Preis in 1965 and had two children,

Marjorie and David moved the family to New Bern in the summer of 1982 from Westminster, MD. She later received her North Carolina real estate license and in 1990 joined Kelso-Wheeler Associates. Marjorie remained in real estate sales until retiring from Century 21 Zaytoun-Raines. In 1986, Marjorie and David purchased a historic home in the Riverside community where she became very active in the historic preservation movement. The restoration process of her historic home afforded her great enjoyment. Marjorie’s incredible eye for authenticity and beauty was unmatched. Marjorie was also instrumental in creating the Riverside Association where she served as president from 1991-1993 and, in 1995, she was elected to serve on the Historic Preservation Commission.
