Thurman was the son of the late Marvin and Estelle Morgan of New Bern. He was preceded in death by his sister Jean and brother Bobby, as well as, his oldest son, Michael.
Thurman is survived by the love of his life for 53 years, Joan. His daughters, Pam Collins (Wayne) of Trenton, and Tammi Williford (Will) of New Bern. His son, Mark Morgan (Tami) of Washington State. He is also survived by his loving sisters, Rachel Morgan of Harkers Island and Peggy Morgan of Greenville, NC. He will be loved and remembered always by his five grandchildren; Cody Finch (Courtney), Morgan Russell (Matt), Dylan Collins (Jules), Haley Price (Thomas), and Carolyn Collins (Jesse). He also had eight great-grandchildren: Brylea, Hallie Kate, Blake, Carson, Harper Lynn, Violet, Regan, Kendall and soon to be Riley Nicole and Baby Collins. They all loved their Grandaddy and he loved them so very much.
Thurman was a family man who would do anything to help and support his family. He served four years in the U.S. Navy and two years in the National Guard. He retired after 38 years from Hatteras Yachts as a Construction Engineer. He could build anything from wood and it would be beautiful. He could grow a plentiful garden and took pride in his yard. His cooking talents will be missed. No one could grill a steak, cook a crab stew, and chicken -n- pastry like him. Like his mama, he was a born fisherman and enjoyed being on the water.
To know him, was to love him. Thurman was a character. He enjoyed his Bud Light, making people laugh and listening to George Jones.
Words cannot describe how our world will be less bright without his grin and one liners.
Funeral services will be provided by Cotten Funeral Home of New Bern. The family has planned a celebration of life service on Wednesday, August 27th at 2 pm in the Chapel.
Cotten Funeral Home is honored to serve the family and friends of Marvin Thurman Morgan.
