She is survived by her husband James Carter; son, Stephen Michael Slaughter; daughter, Andrea Marie Lester; grandson, Dakota William Willis; and brothers, Michael Thomas Slaughter and Arthur Martin Slaughter. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence Bratcher Slaughter and Virginia Dare Sumerell.
The family will hold a visitation at Cotten Funeral Home on Thursday, September 15, from 6-8 p.m. Funeral service will be held Friday, September 16, at 11am with burial to follow at Greenleaf Memorial Park.
