

She is preceded in death by her husband, Burl Combs, one daughter, Barbara Carolyn Combs, and her brothers and sisters, Dale Wallace, Wayne Wallace, Beryl Powers and Clara Wallace.
Mary is survived by her daughter, Patricia A. Manula and her husband Colonel Thomas D. Manula, U.S. Army Retired of New Bern; one sister, Alma Sexton and husband Thomas of Lansing, NC; two grandsons, Brian E. Manula, wife Olivia and great-grandson, Sebastian of Oslo, Norway; and Thomas D. Manula Jr. and wife Emily of Washington, DC.
Mary was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church for the last 7 years. She had previously lived in Roanoke, VA and Darlington, MD where she was very active in her churches children's ministry. Her greatest pastimes were gardening, sewing, quilting and crocheting.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, March 19, 2012 at Tabernacle Baptist Church. Following the service the family will hold a reception at their home at 122 Walden Road, New Bern. A private burial will be held later in the week in Ashe County, NC.
