My heart is saddend with the passing my "Miss Mary"; whom I called "maw"... I have so many great memories of her while growing up.  I understand the disease quite well, as my mother is going through the same thing!   She will be missed; but I rejoice in the fact that we will all see her again one day. We were very sorry to hear of the passing of Miss Mary. Mary and Charlie have been good friends to me and my family for many years. She will be greatly missed. Our thoughts go out to all of the family during this difficult time.

I would like to say that is so sad that Mary has passed. She has always been a part of my familys life for 40 years or so but in the past 10 years was a VERY GOOD and devoted friend to my mother and father before he died in 2005 and was still always there for mom when dad died. My Mom, Eva Moore is now struggling with this same disease. I last remember Mary coming to see my mom at home and they just stood there and hugged for so long, Sometimes I wander if they knew what was happening. Even though  my mom Eva Moore does not comprehend what has happened to her friend Mary, I explained to her one of the best friends in her life has passed. Even I (Ricky) and all her children will miss Miss Mary,,,she was always a part of our lives.Prayers for Charlie and God Speed!

Some of my richest memories in life were spent with Charles & Mary Laughinghouse in New Bern in the 1950s.  They treated me with such love and kindness and always took me to church.  They went on to raise three beautiful daughters and loved them and their grandchildren so very much.  May God comfort you all during the coming days, and know that you're in my thoughts and prayers. Aunt Mary & Uncle Charlie hold a special spot in my heart. My fondest childhood memories start with the Camp on Dawson's Creek in Pamlico County and include playing with my cousins on Howell Road where I was always welcomed and loved. Mary was my my Mother Edna's closest friend and confidant. What a sweet and fun person so full of life, I'll miss her so.

I've known Mrs. Mary since I was 16.  Whenever I'd come home and happen to see her, she would always treat me like she had known me forever.  She was always so complementary.  Rest in Peace now and I will miss you.  Love You, Debbie Campbell Whaley

"Miss Mary" was like a second Mom to me.  She and my mom were best buds.  She always let me know that I her home was mine if I ever needed it.  She was easy to talk to and was so positive. The teens from our church youth group loved to hang out at her house.  We always enjoyed our Sunday afternoon softball games with her and Mr. Charlie.  "Precious in the sight of our Lord is the death of His saints.  Praying for you all!

Aunt Mary & my Daddy, Bobby were siblings,  when my parents got married they lived with Mary & Charles.  Mary has always been a very special person in my life.  I remember this car, a DeSoto I believe and it had this suicide handle on the steering wheel and she would let me stand on the front seat and "drive" for hours using that handle.  I would giggle and laugh out loud and point to the "da plane" where my Daddy was above flying and doing his stunts.  What precious memories I have with this entire family.  I love you all and ask God to comfort you during this time and in the future.
