

A native of Perry County, Kentucky, Midge graduated high school there and attended Montreat College in Black Mountain, NC., where she graduated with a music degree. Years later, she met and married her husband Ira of Pamlico, Co., NC., and traveled with him to various other states and countries during his 32 years of service in the U.S. Navy. They settled in Bayboro, NC in 1971 and she became a music teacher for the Pamlico County School Systems. Midge also taught privately. Her hobbies included knitting, collecting owl figurines, and working crossword puzzles. She was a faithful, lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where she had various callings, the last being the music director.
Mildred was preceded in death by her husband, Ira Waterman Robinson; one son, Cary Burton, her sister, Elizabeth Marchand, and two brothers, Homer and George Wilkerson, Jr.
She is survived by two sons, James W. Robinson and wife Phoebe of Las Vegas, NV and Ira W. “Ted” Robinson, Jr. and wife Chiyo of Aurora, NC; a step-granddaughter, Sandra Needham, four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Friday, June 22, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Interment will be in Coastal Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville. The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 21, 2012 at Cotten Funeral Home from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
