Patricia Capps Dixon

Patricia Pilkington Capps Dixon, 84, of New Bern and the River Bend Community, NC, died Monday, Jun 13th, 2022, in her home surrounded by loved ones.

Pat was born in Johnston County, 1938, and raised in Raleigh, NC. She married George Bailey Dixon in July of 1960, finally settling with her young family in New Bern, NC in 1972. Pat was a pioneer in the retail community, being one of the first female business owners in Craven County. In 1980, Pat Dixon Shoes opened in the heart of Twin Rivers Mall and was a staple for over twenty years.

Pat was deeply beloved by her family. She was a dedicated and devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother; her presence always marked at every family milestone. Pat was fond of cooking with her family, shagging with her friends, a self-taught billiards enthusiast, and was passionate about genealogy; diligently documenting her family tree. She found her greatest pleasure spending time with her family and watching wildlife in her backyard.

Pat is preceded in death by her mother Gladys Capps, her husband Bailey Dixon, her sister Connie Honeycutt, and her brother James “Jimmy” Capps Sr. She is survived by her children, Hailey Miller, Catherine (Gary) Fox, and David (Missy) Dixon; grandchildren Sandra Miller, Nicole Miller, Amy Kemp, Henry Dixon, and Addie Dixon; great-grandchildren Anya Prince, Wyatt Kessler, and Robert Kemp.
