Pattie S. Jones, 61 of New Bern, died September 5, 2011 at home.
She was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church where she served in many capacities and she was a retired school teacher. Pattie graduated from UNC-Greensboro and completed her Masters in education at East Carolina University. She was a member of Alpha Delta Kappa, the International Reading Association and Young Authors. She is preceded in death by her parents, Emerson and Elva Smith.
Pattie is survived by her husband Raymond C. Jones, one son, Kenneth E. Jones of Raleigh; her daughter, Kelly Jones Thornburg and husband Joseph of Bluffton, SC; two sisters, Phyllis Lupton and husband Larry of Thomasville; Pamela Smith of New Bern; one brother, Philip Smith and wife Fran of Statesville; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 4:00 pm Thursday, September 8, 2011 at Tabernacle Baptist Church. The family will receive friends following the service.
