Bob's beloved brother, Bruce Arthur, preceded him in going home to be with the Lord. He is survived by his sisters, Elizabeth, Vivian, Rosalie, and Bertha.
Bob will also be deeply missed this side of heaven by his son, Erik Britton and daughter- in-law, Sonshine; daughters, Elsa Britton, Inez Sugra and son-in-law, Dan Sugra. Bob had four grandchildren: Kayla Britton, Luke Sugra, Lauren Sugra, and Rachel Sugra.
Bob was born and raised in New Hampshire. With a true patriot's heart, Bob served his country in the US Army. Upon returning from Germany, Bob settled in California. He enjoyed his nearly four-decade career as a line technician with Ball Corporation.
A favorite saying that Bob liked to quote was: "You can take the boy out of the country, but you can't take the country out of the boy." His love of nature and God's beautiful creation led Bob to retire in New Bern. As a Yankee transplant to North Carolina, he found himself warmly embraced by his Southern neighbors and church community. Bob's continual joy in the midst of prolonged physical pain, was a testimony of his love of the Lord.
The family would like to thank Temple Baptist for being Bob's home away from home. A special thank you is extended to Mr. & Mrs. Brown and Mr. & Mrs. Bell. They were not only Bob's close neighbors but dear friends who provided continual support & care during the last chapter of his life here on earth.
Bob will be laid to rest at Riverside National Cemetary in California and a future memorial service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Wounded Warrior Project, woundedwarriorproject.org.
Arrangements are by Cotten Funeral Home and Crematory.
