Capt. Gwinn had a long career in the USMC. He served 2 tours in Vietnam and Thailand. He received the Medal of Valor, 2 bronze stars, and 1 silver star. He retired in 1979 as Captain.
He leaves 3 children; Thomas Gwinn of James City, Andrew Gwinn, of Maury, NC, and Cheryl Gwinn Vela of Havelock, NC. He has 1 grandson, Matt, and a son in law, Antonio M. Vela.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 22, 2021 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Cotten Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, December 23, 2021 at Cotten at 11:00 AM.
