Bob retired from the United States Army at the rank of Sgt. Major, after 26 years of faithful service and a tour in Vietnam. He was also a member of the River Bend Country Club and New Bern Elks Lodge #764. Bob was an avid golfer, enjoyed his family and traveling.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, and Sister Mary Lou Brown of Fayetteville, NC.
He is survived by his wife Ida Straley, his son Wayne Straley and Daughter in Law, Pat, of Alexandria VA, two Nephews; Doug and Denny, and a Niece, Terry.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, July 16, 2015 at 6:00 pm at the New Bern Elks Lodge, 1175 Pinetree Dr, New Bern, NC 28562. The family will receive friends on hour prior to the service.
