Rodney Curtis Sutton, 59, of Cove City, North Carolina passed away peacefully on Monday, December 27, 2021 surrounded by family and friends. Beginning at an early age, Rodney loved trucks and his love for them carried on into adulthood as he achieved his dream of owning and operating his own business, Rodney C. Sutton Trucking. Above all, "Rodknocker" cherished his family, enjoyed making memories, and loved his children, grandchildren, his Mama ... and of course, his Peterbilt.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jesse "Buddy" Sutton and his grandparents, Jesse and Clara "Mamie" Sutton and Roy and Margaret Davis.
He is survived by his three children, Heather Simpson (Trey) of Kinston, Lacey Randolph (Boyd) of New Bern, Jarrett Sutton of Cove City; his mother, Lillie "Geraldine" Sutton of Cove City; his significant other, Lora Elliott of Cove City; sister, Vickie Saxe (David) of Cove City; seven grandchildren, Ava LuAnne, Jackson, Mathew, Brady, Ethan, Rachel and Rebekah; and nieces, Kim Kilpatrick and Taylor Anderson.
