Rudy served in the South Pacific in the areas of combat around the Philipine Islands while attached to Motor Torpedo Squadron US 7th Fleet, and he participated in the invasion of Borneo, in which the US Navy assisted the Australian Army with the invasion.
He was still at Borneo when both atomic bombs were dropped on August 15, 19146, and Japan surrendered. He was one of the 200 P.T. Sailors known to be alive at the time of his death.
Rudy was married to Faye, and they were faithful members of First Baptist Church.
A celebration of Rudy's life will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, at Cotten Funeral Home. Rudy will be laid to rest best his wife at Greenleaf Memorial Park at a later time.
