Shirley Jean Pridgen

Shirley Taylor Pridgen passed away on Thursday, May 5, 2022, at home with family by her side. Shirley was born in New Bern on June 27, 1934 to Walter Bernice Taylor and Kathleen Ball Taylor. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Lonnie E. Pridgen, Jr., a son, Lonnie Stephen Pridgen, a daughter, Terri Pridgen Lacy, a granddaughter, Chloe Tetreault, her sisters, Shirley Elizabeth Taylor, Reva Taylor Vernelson, Teresa Ann Taylor, and her brother, Walter Allen Taylor.

She is survived by her children, W. Michael Pridgen and Ginnie Pridgen Tetreault of New Bern; grandchildren, James Michael Pridgen and wife, Elizabeth, of Raleigh, Nicholas Alexander Pridgen of New Bern, and Kristen Sullivan of Durham; great-grandchildren, Ian Sullivan, Nadia Sullivan, and Evan Taylor Pridgen, her brother, Marshall (Sonny) Taylor and his wife, Jacqueline of New Bern, her sisters, Madie Taylor Moore of Raleigh and Dorothy Taylor Autry and husband, Jerry, of Burgaw. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly and her daughter-in-love, Mary Martha Rose.

A celebration of Shirley's life will be held on Saturday, May 21, 2022 at 3 pm at Christ Episcopal Church. The family will receive friends after the service in the Parish House.
