Silva Willeen Greene

Silva Willeen Greene, 86, of Pollocksville, North Carolina passed away on Saturday, April 18, 2026. Silva was born on October 4, 1939 in Craven County, North Carolina to the late Lem Franklin Merritt and Beatrice McCoy Merritt.

Silva graduated from Dover High School and went on to build a life marked by steady devotion to others. She had a long career at Howell's Child Care in Riverbend for over 20 years, where her reliability and diligence were evident in the care she gave and the standards she kept—always with a calm patience and a giving spirit.

She was married to Robert Greene and had two children. Those who knew Silva understood that her love was expressed most clearly through steadfast presence, practical help, and quiet sacrifice. A woman of faith and loyalty, she carried herself with strength and humility, known as a forgiving soul and a peacemaker—someone who worked hard, showed up early, and still made time to notice the good in others.

Silva loved to garden and loved for her family and friends to love gardening, finding joy in what could be nurtured and shared. She was also a true Patriot and loved her Country and the Constitution. In that same spirit of service, she would serve in the local elections, and she loved to volunteer and serve at any voting booth at any election. Her care extended beyond public service into everyday life; she had a servant’s heart, serving her neighbors and older family members, making many phone calls, visits, and trips to doctors appointments.

Left to cherish her memory and continue in her legacy are her son Donald Greene and his wife Jamie, grandson Lukas Wood and his wife Jessica, granddaughter Danielle Hughes and her husband Robert, great granddaughters Ellie and Julie, granddaughter Hanna Mentink and her husband Kannon, granddaughter Kiley Meadows and her husband Logan, and grandson Jonathan Greene.

In addition to her parents she is predeceased by her husband Robert Greene, her daughter Amelia Greene and her grandson Jaymes Wood.

The family would like to thank the staff and leadership at Brook Stone Nursing Home for their care and compassion for Silva especially to those that went above and beyond paying extra attention and continued support to Silva.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 28, 2026 from 1:00pm to 2:00pm at First Baptist Church of Maysville, 201 Main St, Maysville, NC 28555 with a funeral service to follow at 2:00pm. She will be laid to rest following the service at Mark Hebrew McCoy Family Cemetery on Mark McCoy Road in Cove City.
