Thomas Hardee Batten

Tommy Batten of Old Airport Road in New Bern passed away in the night on September 29, 2021, at home with his wife and family. He lived his life with a gusto that few have the stamina for. He was a hard worker with a tender heart and a generous spirit who was feared by some and loved by many. He was quick to tell a story or a joke with a spark of mischief in his eye that could light up a room and a punchline that could bring down the house. He was a real larger than life character from a bygone time. He will be sorely missed by the family and friends he has left behind.

Tommy is survived by his wife, Wendy, his sons Don (Tricia), Dean (Paul), Robbie (Kasi) and daughter Katie (Jameson). He is also survived by his grandchildren; Brian (Shelby), Philip (Caitlin), William (Katelyn), Journee, Jordan, Januaree, Jewelree, Miles and Emmett, and his great grandchildren Taylor and Hannah.
