Deer season is right around the corner so we all know where Trevor would be. If you knew Trevor at all deer season was a big thing. You would find him deep in the woods with one or more of his girls high up in a tree-stand waiting for the perfect buck to walk into sight. His wife, Tenille, would go out there to sit in the cold all bundled up waiting on a deer. I never understood the appeal of sitting still in the cold for hours just waiting quietly, and then to turn around and have to do all the work to clean and dress your kill. Man, that did not sound like a good time to me, but to him, I believe, the woods were where he found peace and happiness. The woods were where he bonded with his girls and his wife. The woods were where he felt alive and welcomed.
Granted he missed his fair share of deer, but he was always so excited and nervous to see that perfect buck walk out. We will chalk up all those missed deer to his nervous excitement, not to him being a bad shot or anything.
Even with those missed shots and feelings of disappointment he would be right back out there the next free moment he had. I’m not entirely sure he even cared if he saw a deer on some days. I just think it was the quiet and wind in the trees and the cool crisp air that brought him back again and again. To honor his love for the outdoors we will have a small private family service in the woods at our farm. He will be placed where he loved to be, surrounded by the people whose lives he touched everyday. Family members are asked to dress comfortably with a splash of camo if you have it.
